My iPhone Blog is reborn!

Greetings family and friends!

After a long hiatus, and a move to a new server and parent site, I’ve just today managed to resurrect my iPhone blog. I thought it was a goner, but thanks to major assistance from Matt Scalf of Izoox, Inc. (my new hosting provider), and Kevin Karsh of Ouraynet (the old provider), we were able to rescue the entire blog.

Since it’s no longer such a stretch to think of an iPhone as a full-fledged computer, I’ve decided to rename the blog as well. I figured I’d keep it simple!

So climb back on board! Mallory & I leave Monday for three weeks in Spain, and I will once again be documenting the entire trip from my 3-month old iPhone 5. The WordPress app has been significantly improved in the more than 2 1/2 years since my last post. I plan to give you a really unique perspective on traveling with an iPhone (and writing about it)!

Stay tuned…

It’s been too long!

I cannot believe it’s been three months since I last posted. It’s been a long, crazy fall, that’s for sure!

A lot has happened since mid-July. My 91-year old father’s health took a bad turn, and he’s now in a nursing home. Mallory, our daughters and I had a nice relaxing vacation in upstate New York. School started for everyone in the family but me, and that’s made it tough for Mallory to get the training miles she needs for her her first marathon in NYC on Nov. 7th. I’ve been busy, but also very low-energy for some reason. Lastly, we’ve had the most amazing six weeks of Indian Summer-type weather, with the fall colors lingering for longer than I’ve ever seen before. Here’s an example for you:

Anyway, here I am, back in the saddle.

Settled in back home

It’s been more than a week since we got home, and aside from a little bit of jet lag, the transition hasn’t been too bad. Traveling for more than 25 hours straight can really sap your energy, that’s for sure…

Here’s a couple photos (taken blind!) from airplane windows along the way. The first one is of the NYC skyline at the end of the flight from London…

…and this next one is of the plains east of Denver as we approached DIA…

So now that we’re back, things are slowly returning to normal. I went ahead and got the broken iPhone replaced (at a slight discount, but still not cheap, as water damage isn’t covered by the warranty, of course). I can’t believe how much difference having working backlight makes! I’ve also ordered an iPhone 4, so am very excited about that. Yes, I’m aware of all the hoopla surrounding the potential antenna issues, but it really sounds like a pretty rare problem. Plus, Apple is going to give all buyers one of their “bumper” cases for free, which is a bonus… I cant wait for it to arrive in a couple weeks so I can post about all the new features!

In the meantime, as the usual demands of life gather steam, I’m reminded of all that I have to be thankful for. Friends, family, good health and a great job. Not to mention travel opportunities like we just enjoyed! What more could a nerd like me ask for!?!
